Sippi's Personality

What is Sippi like?

She's a brown dog with a white splotch on her chest. It looks like someone hit her with a paintball and it ran down her sternum. One ear cocks out to the side giving her a perpetual quizzical look.

Doodles loves a good massage. She is comfortable being touched and doesn't appear to have any spots she doesn't like. I was nervous about cutting her toenails and it didn't phase her one bit. Sip really likes a nice, light scratch on her neck as well as the usual belly rub.

Her favorite is a bone smeared with peanut butter on the inside. She takes treats like a lady and is not bothered by you around her food. Sip has also learned that curling next to you on the couch or with her head propped in your lap is good for cuddles. But watch out, you might get a multitude of kisses. She is a big licker.

When she is sad or upset about being left alone, she lets out the most forelorn howl. She doesn't bark except to tell you she needs to go out or is in need of your attention. She has met all strangers well, including the Terminex man who was in the basement, her space.

Sippi is fairly well house trained to a point. She needs to go out regularly or will tinkle on the carpet. She'll stop if caught in the act and knows what she is supposed to do if you take her out late before you go to bed. She can sit also. She usually walks well on a leash unless there is something she is really interested in.

Doodles gets excited when she sees my big, male dog Sandy through the fence. They get along well together. Sandy, neutered, is also very calm and tolerant of other dogs. She also seems to like my puppy. But I haven't let them interact other than through the fence. This is because Sippi has heartworms and both dogs are yet to be spayed.

Cats. Well. If you read my third blog, you know she doesn't interact well with them. She listens when you say 'no' or 'ack' but still has a keen interest in them. Maybe, over time, she could be trained but I'd be really careful.

Sippi also likes to go for car rides. She is a calm girl and will watch out the window or lie down. Since she has been going to work with me so often, she often goes straight to the car expecting a ride.

Sip hops and springs in a cute way. She is crafty, working her way out of crate that was improperly secured. She can also get out of a cage so a couple of extra clips keeps her from opening the door. The first time she was in my yard and I called her, she was so happy. She came bounding to me like, "really, you are calling me?"
